Series of printed textile

Movement

*This series is a part of a project "Process: play with the site" which is inspired by Japanese architect Kunio Mayekawa* Series of printed pattern design inspired by the relief sculpture at Tenjinyama Cultural Plaza. The existence of the relief artwork towering in the heart of the architecture is prominent. Though the dynamic movement is in contrast with the static concrete exterior of the building, material of the body is the same in rough concrete. The series of printed textile consists two contrasts: form and color.

Light Lines

*This series is a part of a project "Process: play with the site" which is inspired by Japanese architect Kunio Mayekawa* This series is inspired by natural light projected through the north facade window in a room in Tenjinyama Cultural Plaza. The pattern is formed by layering the shape of projected light in the space changing time by time. The projected natural light is simulated on Sketchup which showed the light shines most in the afternoon before sunset-time during mid-summer. Although the result appeared on the virtual simulation system, the admirable transition of light happens only at the site.

Keyaki

*This series is a part of a project "Process: play with the site" which is inspired by Japanese architect Kunio Mayekawa* The Japanese Zelkova, the design source of these patterns, is virtually the staple of Mayekawa's work. As the green area is the essential part for his works, the tree can be seen frequently around the sites he had designed. The surface of the tree trunk is drawn by curved/straight lines respectively, and the form is transformed to repeated pattern.

PRINTED TEXTILE COLLECTION

Where Have You Been To

The series of printed textile inspired by the intriguing piece of object which has been found on the beach in Tasmania. What is the story behind the object who might had traveled through various oceans? Nobody knows, but it tells us the power of wave which turns the solid object to such a creative sculpture beyond expectancy. This is a truth of "nature forms". I those fabrics, organic form and surfaces of the object have been drawn in a simple manner to develop the three patten designs expressing the transformation and the time she has spend.

In sketching process, white modeling paste (acrylic) is applied thick on paper with a knife, then the edge of the paste is traced/ painted with a black ink to archive the sharp and sensitive drawing line different texture from pencils or pens. This process gives depth the pattern design on fabric.

Picture Fabrics

Fabric can be found everywhere in our daily life, thus we always touch it and feel its texture. But how about paintings? These printed fabrics have made from individual paintings which are not intended to create repeated pattern. Now these forms (surfaces) behave more accessible and approachable.
